New York is Always a Good Idea.
The hustle and bustle. The concrete jungle. The lights. How could you not love NYC? As we started planning what we wanted to do for our first anniversary, Garrett suggested Palm Springs...and I said "how about New York?". Quite a difference given one is on the other side of the country haha. The next day Garrett emailed me an itinerary option and I said heck YES! We were going to New York City days before Christmas!
We flew from Long Beach to JFK, we took the subway to Penn Station and walked a couple blocks away to our hotel.
We ALWAYS use Hotel Tonight for our getaways, we found an awesome hotel in Chelsea called Hotel Hayden.
I got us the NYC City Pass for all the sight seeing I had planned. I’m a sights kind of girl and Garrett is a total foodie. So I plan activites, he plans any and all eating or drinking! Yes, he should have a food blog and he would KILL it.
Day 1. But first, coffee. Garrett found a coffee shop on yelp, tried to figure out the subway, but ended up ubering everywhere. We took the ferry to the Statue of Liberty. We got emotional at the World Trade Center and had dinner at any AMAZING place called Le Bernardin. This is a high end seafood restaurant. Garrett called to make a reservation, but they were booked months in advance. They do have a bar and lounge area where we were able to walk in and sit! We had the option to pick and choose from different items on the menu, instead of ordering the full chef’s menu! Great deal and the food was unbelievable.
Day 2. We walked what seemed like all of 5th Avenue. We went to top of the Empire State Building. We walked through a snowy Central Park. It was so dreamy. We explored The Met Museum. It was beautiful, but we were so dead from all the walking. We ended the day with dinner at Indian Accent. If you are ever in New York and like Indian food...you HAVE to try this place! We went all out and got the 10 course dinner! Each course was paired with a different wine. Neither of us had ever had a dining experience like this one. We really splurged there.
Day 3. (12/17/17) One year of marriage. What a year! Top of the Rock. This was my first time up there and boy is it dreamy! We found a pub to watch some NFL Red Zone, you guessed it! It was a Sunday and hubby wanted to watch some football! This was our most relaxed day. At night we Uber over to Broadway and found a hole in the wall pizza place and this was our anniversary dinner. Nothing like a girl with some pizza. We walked over to the Eugene O’Neill theater where we watched the play Book of Mormon! Great play, AMAZING acting!! Right after the play, we walked to Times Square. We took in all the lights and then headed up back to the hotel to rest up for an early flight home the next morning. Goodbye New York, we will most definitely be back.
