Hello.

Welcome. I write about travels, life lessons, family, and the food I cook. Enjoy!

Pregnancy Must Haves.

Pregnancy Must Haves.

Carrying a little one is one of the sweetest feelings! But pregnancy isn’t always easy on our bodies. Some women love pregnancy and don’t have many symptoms, while others are miserable for the entire 9 months. I put together a list of my pregnancy must haves that helped ease some of MY uncomfortableness.

Pre-Natal Vitamins

This one is so important! I started taking pre-natal vitamins as soon as we started trying to get pregnant. You definitely want the little human growing inside you to have all the nutrients he or she needs! At first I was taking a one a day prenatal, but it was making me a bit nauseous every time I took my pill. I checked out the vitamin section at Whole Foods and found mykind organics prenatal multi vitamin chews. These have worked great! I take 4 gummies a day and I have no nausea!

 Peanut Ball/Tennis Balls

Okay, this one has been SO important for me! I knew the benefits of rolling out from being a college athlete, but I had no idea how much it would help while I was pregnant. My hips, butt, and back were in so much pain. I started using some of Grace’s tennis balls to roll out on. I ended up buying a peanut ball on amazon. It’s basically two tennis balls molded together. I tried to roll out everyday especially on the days I was struggling to even walk. It helped loosen everything up and relieve lots of pain.

Pregnancy Pillow

Although a full sized pregnancy pillow didn’t work for me, I know how important it is for SO many pregnant women. I felt claustrophobic at night by a huge pillow surrounding me. I opted for one normal pillow or a small throw pillow for my back or my knees. Getting a good nights rest is so important for our bodies so figuring out what is going to work best for you is a must!

Support Band

Pretty early into my 2nd trimester I had lots of bone pain in my hips, pubic bone, or even tail bone. I talked to my Obgyn about it and she recommended a support band. I found one on amazon that I’ve liked. I try to wear it as much as possible, but without a doubt wear it when I’m working out because of the added pressure. The band has helped my body support Lyla as she grows.

Maternity Clothes

When I hit about 5 months of pregnancy my jeans were feeling real tight. As much as I wanted to, I couldn’t get away with wearing leggings ALL the time. Finding maternity clothes can be difficult and frustrating. I headed to Motherhood Maternity to find myself a pair or two of jeans. I did end up buying a pair of bell bottoms and skinny jeans, but I had to get them a bit altered. I later purchased a pair of black skinny jeans from PinkBlush. I bought my baby shower dress on PinkBlush and loved it. Check them out for all your maternity clothes needs!

Bigger/Comfy Bras

This one was huge for me. I was in denial my boobs were growing and there was a need for new bras. Garrett finally convinced me to go to Victoria Secret get remeasured. He told me to buy a bra or two so I would be more comfortable. For quite some time now I’ve been about a C cup and now this lady was telling me I was a DD! I was in shock and she told since it was still pretty early on in my pregnancy they would most likely continue to grow. If you are planning on working out, I would definitely recommend getting a few bigger sport bras as well!

Comfy Pjs

Let me start by saying I absolutely love pajamas! Garrett always finds me in my pjs. We all know Target has completely stepped up their game. I found a tank top/short pj set for those hotter nights and for the colder nights I found amazing comfy, cute pj pants. Target has tons of options and it’s super affordable!

Lululemon Align Pants

Okay, I lived in my lulu align pants. One of my best friends works at Lululemon and she told me all her pregnant clients all use the align pants. They stretch with your belly, don’t ever feel too tight, and shrink back down during post-partum. Yes, I know Lululemon can be expensive, but their leggings last forever! If you can’t get past the prices, consider Poshmark. I ended up buying about 5 pairs of align crops during my pregnancy for a fraction of the price on Poshmark.

Belly Oil/Cream

My mom gifted me some belly cream to prevent stretch marks as soon as she found out I was pregnant. She went through almost her entire pregnancy without stretch marks. A week before she gave birth to me she got some on her belly. I was also gifted some belly oil. I haven’t been the best at using both each day. I’m not even sure they actually help prevent stretch marks, but they both definitely help with itchy skin! My belly skin would get super dry and itchy from growing each day! So far so good on stretch marks on my belly (but my pregnancy isn’t over yet). I did get stretch marks on my boobs pretty early on from the crazy growth. I don’t really mind, it is what it is. If my body needs some extra room and needs to create some stretch marks to keep baby girl safe in there so be it.
